Low-Rent Housing Program

The Low-Rent Housing Program, administered by the Housing Authority of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (HASNOK), provides safe, decent, and affordable rental housing to income-eligible Native American families within the Nation’s service area. The program is designed to assist households who meet federal low-income guidelines while ensuring equitable and consistent treatment of all applicants. Eligibility requires applicants to be Native American members, citizens, Freedmen, or part of a Native American family, with priority given to Seminole Nation members. Rent is based on household income—typically 25% of adjusted gross income, with reduced percentages for elderly or disabled families—ensuring affordability while maintaining program sustainability. Units are leased under strict occupancy and maintenance standards, with residents responsible for upkeep and compliance with program rules. The program prioritizes displaced families, elders, disabled members, veterans, and first-time applicants, promoting stability and community well-being through fair housing access.
