Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF)

The Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) Program, administered by the Housing Authority of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (HASNOK), provides critical support to tribal homeowners facing financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program helps prevent mortgage delinquencies, defaults, foreclosures, utility shutoffs, and displacement by offering direct financial assistance for essential housing costs. Eligible expenses include mortgage payments, reinstatement of delinquent mortgages, utilities (electric, gas/propane, and water), homeowner’s insurance, flood insurance, property taxes, and essential home repairs to maintain habitability. Assistance is capped at $15,000 per household, with payments made directly to lenders, utility providers, insurance companies, tax assessors, or approved contractors. To qualify, applicants must be Native American homeowners, attest to a financial hardship experienced after January 21, 2020, meet income guidelines (≤150% of area median income), and reside in their primary residence. This program ensures equitable, consistent, and transparent aid to strengthen housing stability for Seminole Nation families
